About Us

Ms. J, also known as Wei Jiang, envisioned a welcoming and inclusive gymnastics facility for everyone. As a former gymnast from China, she experienced a demanding gymnastics and wanted to create something different. In December 2004, her dream became a reality with establishment of Ms. J's Gymnastics & Dance. Initially operating in a 3,000 sq. ft. facility on Kent Avenue for ten years, the gym then relocated just couple of cartwheels away to South 1st Street, expanding to an impressive 10,000. ft. in October 2017 by taking over the building next door.

Welcome to Ms. J's Gym, where we create a safe and fun environment to ignite a love gymnastics! We believe that gymnastics lays the best foundation for physical fitness and other sports. Our focus developing strength, flexibility, and coordination helps shape confident and disciplined athletes Join us as we share our passion for movement and make success attainable for every student!

Ms. J's History

Ms. J's Family is very excited to be in our 20th year of service to our community! Ms. J's programs are open to ALL. We offer gymnastics and dance with great glee, structure, and discipline.

Our programs include: gymnastics classes, dance classes, aerial silks classes, single day gymnastics camps, Kid's Night Out events on Saturday evenings, indoor play hour aka Family Fun, Pick Up & Play from various North Brooklyn Schools,  birthday and holiday parties for playful celebrations, and so much more!

Ms. J's Present Day

Ms. J's Gym is coming up on its 20th anniversary! Currently, we have reached over 75k families on our parent portal, more than 100 weekly recreational gymnastics classes, pickup from multiple North Brooklyn schools, competitive teams that compete locally & nationally, and a variety of programs: ranging from Family Fun to Bouldering Ninja classes!


We have more in store for the future and we cannot wait to grow with you.

Founders & Owners

(Ms. J & Mr. J)

Ms. J's founder, Wei Jiang, started her gymnastics career in 1974. Wei trained for many national and international competitions. From 8 to 19 years of age she trained in China's National Training Center and joined the Chinese Olympic Team as an alternate, representing China at the 1984 Olympic Games. She has a B.S. degree from the University of Iowa, has more than forty years of teaching experience, and is a member of the USA Gymnastics organization. Ms. J currently teaches gymnastics for grades K – 4 at The Spence School in Manhattan and has been there since 1997. Ms. J’s husband, Gerard Irving, is co owner of Ms. J’s Gymnastics and Dance. They have two daughters, Ginger and Ella, and the family of four live in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

Ms. Jerlin grew up in Williamsburg and began dancing at age 3 in a mommy & me Ballet class. Her interest in gymnastics began in junior high. She continued working on her skills up until high school. While learning gymnastics, she discovered an artistic way to express herself through movement and hasn't ignored her talent since then. She studied Speech Pathology at St. Joseph's College. Jerlin loves working with children and puts her all into making sure that the children express themselves in a way that each child sees fit.

Coach Robinson

WB Rec Director & Team Coach

Acrobat Dominican Republic Robinson Tejeda Ferreira discovered gymnastics at age 14 while following his mother to her work at the gymnastics club. After 6 years of training, he became a gymnastics coach to share his passion with youngsters of his home town of Santo Domingo. A few years later, he started performing as an acrobat in the Caribbean Pirates show in Punta Cana.  Pushing his personal boundaries and sharing his passion with the audience is what fuels him. Naturally joyful and outgoing, his motto is to enjoy life to the fullest every single day. TORUK – The First Flight is his first collaboration with Cirque du Soleil.

Coach Eliza

WB PUP & Camp Director & Team Manager

Eliza, a Williamsburg local, discovered her passion for dance at just 4 years old. Starting with ballet, she quickly expanded her repertoire at 9 to include tap, hip hop, and ballroom. With a flair for creativity, she even choreographed birthday bashes and weddings! Now, she brings that energy to the after-school PUP program, where she teaches kids to express themselves and embrace life’s lessons—all while having a great time. After jumping into gymnastics as a freshman in highschool, she found an amazing synergy between her dance and gymnastic skills. Eliza absolutely loves inspiring the kids at Ms. J's, encouraging them to be true to themselves and enjoy every moment!

Coach Angi

Greenpoint PUP, Camp,

& Rec Director & Team Coach

Raised in Southern California, Angi started gymnastics at the age of 6 as a pre-team gymnast. She remained active in tumbling by later joining dance and competitive all-star cheer with California Allstars until age 17. Angi attended Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts at The New School in 2013. Since then she has developed a fondness for working with kids as a nanny and a coach. She currently manages and directs Ms. J's Greenpoint location as she resides in Brooklyn with her two cats.

Coach Lacee

Team Head Coach

Lacee was born and raised in the desert of Arizona. She started dancing and tumbling at a local dance studio at the age of three and at the age of 15 decided to try out gymnastics and high school cheerleading. Lacee received her BFA from Arizona State University and during her time completed one season with their competitive cheer squad and danced under the direction of artists like Jessica Rajko, Kimberly Bartosik, Tentacle Tribe and Cruz Control Collective. She currently is a resident of Brooklyn and is a freelance movement artist while coaching your lovely children at Ms. J’s gymnastics.

Gymnastics Coach

Ms. Jayme grew up in Williamsburg and began working at Ms. J's after volunteering through NYC's Summer Youth Employment Program. Jayme has 5 years of experience working with children in various settings and enjoys creating an environment where her students are encouraged to be their best selves. Her interest in gymnastics began in high school, and she has worked to ensure her students' gymnastics experiences are both enjoyable and fulfilling. Jayme earned her BA in Human Biology at Hunter College and continues to enjoy making Ms. J's a safe and inviting space for all!
